Stockton mass vaccination hub delayed over low COVID-19 vaccine supply – KCRA Sacramento

STOCKTON, Calif.– A mass vaccination center in Stockton is being delayed due to there being less COVID-19 dosages than anticipated, according to authorities with Kaiser Permanente. The hub was initially scheduled to open Tuesday at the Stockton Arena.
Kaiser said it discovered late Thursday that it would not be receiving enough vaccines in time for its planned opening.”Kaiser Permanente and the consortium are dedicated to opening the website as quickly as vaccine supply is received and stand ready to open and start administering vaccinations to the neighborhood,” authorities stated in a press release.”Despite the delayed start date, we stay positive that this site will offer a substantial boost to our vaccination efforts, and it will be particularly important due to the expanded vaccine eligibility requirements in April,” stated Dr. Maggie Park, San Joaquin County Public Health Officer.Once open, the Stockton mass vaccination center will be able to administer 5,400 doses a day, as vaccine supply allows. The delay in opening the Stockton center will not impact vaccination at other areas.
