IDPH recommend schools allow parents, kids decide whether to wear masks – KCCI Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa– The brand-new recommendations from the Iowa Department of Public Health on Friday stated schools must let trainees and moms and dads make their own choice about using face masks. The IDPH director made the recommendation in a letter to schools, childcare suppliers and local health departments.
The director stated the department adjusted its guidance to advise that schools and child care settings approach COVID-19 like other kid illnesses, and the department is modifying guidance to recommend that kids exposed to COVID-19 no longer must stay house whether they wear a mask or not. Due to the fact that few students have been immunized and there are only 3 weeks left of the school year, Des Moines Public School District informed KCCI that its going to keep requiring masks. The district said it will be reviewing some mitigation efforts for summer programs with the want to begin a regular school year in August.
