Houston Health Department confirms city’s first COVID-19 pediatric death of child with no underlying health conditions – KPRC Click2Houston

HOUSTON– It was announced Thursday that a regional boy between the ages 10 and 19 is Houstons very first pediatric COVID-19 death without underlying health conditions, according to the Houston Health Department.The department reported that the citys 6 previous pediatric deaths all had hidden health conditions.Health officials said the young boy, who was unvaccinated, died in late July at a Houston healthcare facility. Authorities said he tested favorable for the virus however it is unidentified if he was contaminated with a variant of the virus.The health department is unable to provide further identification of the kid due to personal privacy laws.”On behalf of the City of Houston, I extend my acknowledgements to the young boys family during their time of sorrow,” Mayor Sylvester Turner stated. “The death of an enjoyed one under any circumstance is heartbreaking, particularly when we have the power to slow the spread and conserve lives.
