Older Americans are most at danger of dying from the coronavirus, but medical examiner records reveal that more youthful people are also passing away. Almost constantly their deaths are accompanied by underlying conditions. The list of more youthful Black people who have died of COVID-19 includes a 38-year-old male with morbid weight problems; a 35-year-old female with diabetes, kidney failure, obesity, hypertension and a heart muscle disease called cardiomyopathy; a 22-year-old woman with obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and a hardening of the arteries brought on by chronically high blood pressure; and a 35-year-old male with end-stage kidney hypertension, illness and diabetes.
