Connecticut DPH Issues Health Alert For Fairfield Tolland And Windham Counties

Health Alert For Fairfield, Tolland And Windham Counties

HARTFORD, Conn.– The Connecticut Department of Public Health is providing a health alert today in reaction to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) moving Fairfield, Tolland and Windham counties into the “significant transmission” category. Fairfield, Tolland and Windham counties sign up with Hartford, New Haven and New London counties, which are also in the significant transmission classification per the CDC category system

” Per guidance today from the CDC, anyone over age 2 who lives, works or takes a trip throughout these counties should wear a mask when in public indoor areas,” said Deidre S. Gifford, MD, MPH, senior consultant to the Governor for Health and Human Services, and acting commissioner of DPH. “This alert applies to all citizens in these areas whether they are immunized or not.”

Commissioner Gifford added that all Connecticut residents who have hidden medical conditions who are at high danger for issues of COVID, or residents who live with high threat or unvaccinated people should likewise consider wearing masks in indoor public spaces. This includes immunized member of the family who cope with young kids who are not yet eligible for vaccination.
