Chinese veterinarian dies from rare Monkey B virus – The Washington Post

The Monkey B infection, or herpes B virus, is prevalent amongst macaque monkeys, but incredibly rare– and typically fatal– when it spreads to people. In people, it tends to attack the main nerve system and trigger inflammation to the brain, causing a loss of consciousness, said Kentaro Iwata, an infectious illness expert at Kobe University in Tokyo. Theres about an 80 percent death rate if unattended.
